About Al Manar
Al Manar Islamic Centre — Calicut
The Al Manar Islamic Centre (Calicut, Kerala, India) is a distinguished educational and da‘wah institution that derives its inspiration, vision, and foundational principles from the renowned Al Manar Islamic Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Al Manar Islamic Centre in Dubai stands as a remarkable model of blessed educational and da‘wah initiatives serving diverse communities in the UAE. It reflects a profound commitment to the Noble Qur'an, nurturing generations of students dedicated to its recitation, memorization, understanding, and dissemination.
Founding & Patronage
The journey of the Centre began with a noble vision conceived by a group of philanthropists and well-wishers devoted to the service of the Qur'an, foremost among them the late Mr. Aslam Muhyudheen (may Allah have mercy upon him). This vision received generous support and paternal patronage from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, who graciously allocated a plot of land for the Centre in the Al Quoz area of Dubai. Continuing the noble legacy of the Al Maktoum family in supporting Qur'anic education and Islamic causes, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, generously sponsored the construction of a modern and fully equipped facility for the Centre at her own expense.
Official Inauguration
In a blessed ceremony attended by distinguished dignitaries and community leaders, the Centre was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on behalf of his mother, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, following Maghrib prayer on Saturday, 2 December 2006. The inauguration was attended by H.E. Dr. Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, Dr. Hamad Al Shaibani, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, along with numerous prominent guests from within and outside the UAE. The occasion marked the opening of a new beacon dedicated to serving the Qur'an and its people.
Over the years, the Centre has welcomed numerous distinguished scholars, thinkers, educators, researchers, and community leaders from around the world. Among its notable visitors are His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Saleh Al-Maghamsi, former Imam and Khateeb of Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, as well as many eminent scholars and da‘wah leaders from various parts of the world.
Vision
Founded on obedience to Allah Almighty, the Centre's ultimate purpose is to ensure dedicated service to the nation and the community (ummah), while spreading the moderate, balanced Islamic and Quranic culture. The Centre aims to make the recitation, memorisation, and study of the Quran, the Prophetic Sunnah and the noble Seerah simple and accessible to all.
Mission
To systematically spread and develop Islamic and Quranic values in society. To facilitate Quranic study and memorisation through a learning environment full of creativity and motivation. In cooperation with relevant official institutions, to engage in educational activities that benefit the community. Through excellent Islamic upbringing, we work continuously to nurture an exemplary society dedicated to the progress of the nation and its people — particularly the resident communities in the UAE.
